Guild Profile - Northern Virginia Carvers
Northern Virginia Carvers has as its goals to preserve, enhance, and perpetuate the American cultural tradition of artistry and craftsmanship in woods, to promote wider community interest in woodcarving as an art form and craft through demonstrations and educational activities, to provide guidance and assistance to beginners and experienced alike, and to let the general public experience the joy and ìfeelî of wood carving. To accomplish these goals, NVC operates a carving center weekly at Woodcraft Supplies, Springfield, VA, and offers carving instructions at Colvin Run Mill in the summer. Throughout the year NVC members demonstrate and teach woodcarving at woodworking shows and civic events. NVC was organized as in 1973 and incorporated as a non-profit association in 1978.
We hold monthly meetings at the Fred M. Packard Center in Annandale Coummunity Park from 3:30 to 8:30 pm on 3rd Thursday.
