Guild Profile - Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild
Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild was founded in 1972 as an educational corporation whose primary purpose is to promote handcrafts, by way of workshops, exhibits, and craft shows. As part of its community service program the guild members contribute over 100 handmade items monthly to four Meals on Wheels units. These items are given to elderly individuals as a part of their delivered meals. Community service also contributes members' donated arts and crafts supplies as well as other needed items to a Fairfax County children's day care center and a teen shelter. Since 1980 the guild has awarded yearly scholarships to area students to further their study in art or craft related fields. All Guild activities are carried out by volunteers.
