Artist Statement

People often ask: “Why do you paint?” My answer is: “I just love the feeling of creating something, something I do, even if imperfect. I love the struggle one goes through when trying to interpret images, not copy them, but projecting what the image means to me... . Did I say “love”? I actually suffer in the process... the struggle keeps me on edge for hours or days. Capturing a brief moment in nature? That is a challenge... but a challenge that keeps asking for more. One of my teachers once said: “I paint even when I am not painting”. I believe all of us, artists and artisans, do it constantly - observing, feeling, a moment of light or shadow, a form that attracts us, color contrasts, it is around us... .
