The Organization - Guilds and Individual Artisans
In the 1980's several guilds of different crafts in the DC and Northern VA area came together and formed Artisans United. Today, the organisation has nine different member guilds and in addition about 25 individual artisans.
Artisans United is a network of local artists and craftspeople serving as a community resource, presenting outreach programs to the community, and operating a cooperative gallery where high-quality handcrafted items are on display and for sale. Meetings are held on the third Monday of every odd month at the Fred M. Packard Center in Annandale Community Park, Annandale, Virginia.
Artisans United is a non-profit organization striving to preserve, promote, and develope the disciplines of visual arts and crafts. The organization provides an intellectual and creative forum for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and materials among its members. Opportunities for growth and development are provided in a climate of mutual respect for the different dsciplines with encouragement given to all members.
